Daniel Bovey, guitar
Daniel Bovey is a young guitarist with a rapidly flourishing musical career. Daniel is a member of both the Vickers-Bovey Guitar Duo and the Mēla Guitar Quartet. In these ensembles Daniel has performed all over the UK including concerts at major venues such as The Sage (Gateshead), Colston Hall (Bristol), The Forge (London) and Kings Place (London). The Vickers-Bovey duo are the dedicatees of a number of new works by composers including Joe Cutler and also Ryan Probert, who wrote the duo an extensive work titled 'Thirty-Six Views of Mt. Fuji'; of which a recording was released in April this year supported by the Japan Society. The duo have recently become young artists of the Concordia Foundation and the Tillett Trust and through these organisations will soon be making their debut performances at Wigmore Hall and St. James's Church Piccadilly. Both the duo and the quartet have been artists on IGF's Young Artists Platform. Mēla Guitar Quartet are currently recording the complete works for guitar quartet by Stephen Dodgson for the Dodgson Trust. In 2014 Daniel won 2nd prize in the Ivor Mairants Guitar Award. Daniel graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2014 with the highest degree result across the year, as well as having won the Guitar Prize and the Daniel is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music, supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and Help Musicians UK.
