Zhivko Georgiev, violin
Zhivko Georgiev was born in Bulgaria where he completed his secondary education at the National School of Arts – Ruse. Recently he graduated as a Bachelor of Music with Honours in Birmingham Conservatoire where he studied with Susanne Stanzeleit. Regularly performing as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player, Zhivko’s performance venues include Birmingham Town Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. He has had the pleasure to lead the Birmingham Conservatoire Symphony and Repertoire orchestras on several occasions and to perform regularly in the Conservatoire Chamber Music Week with the Georgiev Quartet. Some of the most recent prizes he has won include a place for the Birmingham Royal Ballet orchestral training scheme and first prize in the Hurbert Lumby competition held in Birmingham Conservatoire. He has also participated in different masterclasses and courses with musicians and ensembles such as Prof. Yuri Zhislin, James Ehnes, Vladimir Spivakov, Philippe Graffin, Takacs Quartet, Amsterdam String Quartet and the Wihan String Quartet. Zhivko’s future plans include starting a postgraduate course at Birmingham Conservatoire next year where he has already been offered a place with a scholarship.
